Say Hello to Love Bites
This August, Hamilton’s city centre is serving up something deliciously different with the arrival of Love Bites, a month-long celebration of local hospitality that invites people to explore the central city one scrumptious bite at a time.
Running for the entire month of August, Love Bites is all about showcasing the fabulous cafés, restaurants, bars and eateries we have right here in town, with each participating business creating a special one-off bite-style offering. The only rule given to our eateries is that the ‘bite’ needs to be able to be enjoyed without a knife and fork.
We will have an awesome range of ‘bites’ on offer, from a $3 Canelé de Bordeaux, a French pâtisserie treat, through to a rather indulgent $50 Hollandaise and Caviar Hash. Whether you are after something sweet, savoury, nostalgic, international, bougie, comforting or completely unexpected, the central city will be full of tempting reasons to pop in, try somewhere new, and maybe uncover or rediscover a hidden gem along the way. With over 30 participating businesses, there will be something for every palate and price point.
We think Love Bites is a fresh and fun opportunity for central city hospitality businesses to show off their creativity in a bite-sized way. It’s a great challenge for our eateries to create one irresistible bite that leaves people wanting more, and we back our cafés, bars and restaurants to rise to the occasion by providing a tempting morsel you will want to sink your teeth into. In fact, we believe for many customers it may well be love at first bite.
To make it easy to explore the variety on offer, a series of themed trails will help people find a flavour adventure that suits their taste. Trail flavours include Baked Bites for those who love something from the oven, Sweet Bites for the treat seekers, Cocktail and a Bite for a little after-work flair, Late Night Bites for evening wanderers, Afternoon Pick-Me-Up Bites for that much-needed delicious pause, and Around the World in Bites for anyone keen to taste their way through different flavours and cultures.
Alongside these fantastic trails, there will also be a series of special hospitality events for those who want a little more to chew over, including a taste of Croatia, bite-sized degustation, business bites, whisky versus tequila nights with matching snacks, behind the scenes bites at Te Whare Taonga o Waikato Museum & Gallery, recipe book bites at the Hamilton Central library and other tasty experiences.
Love Bites has been created with visitors in mind, and throughout August we will be encouraging people to share and promote their favourite bites, offering up prizes and shining a light on the awesome dining scene that can be enjoyed one bite at a time. Love Bites is the perfect excuse to wander, taste, linger and enjoy the city centre — and grab a ‘bite’ to eat while you’re here.
