After travelling the world, this ambitious couple are sharing a slice of Vietnamese culture with Hamilton.
Erik Au Duong and his wife Jessica Nguyen are originally from Vietnam but they have spent much of their life living in Europe and America before settling in Hamilton – which is the closest they’ve come to home.
“The first thing that caught my eye when we arrived in Hamilton was a kid walking back from school in barefeet and it felt like home. Back in Vietnam as kids we only had one pair of sandals and would walk around barefoot all the time,” Duong said.
For Nguyen, living close to the river and seeing kids swimming in it reminded her of her hometown in Mekong Delta in southwestern Vietnam.
