Halloween in Hamilton’s central city: your guide to a frightfully good night out

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and the central city is ready for it. Whatever kind of night you are chasing, there is something happening for you on the 31st of October. From trick or treating for the kids to grownups who want to dance until the witching hour, the city centre has it all covered.

In the lead up to Halloween the annual Zombie Walk will be taking place on the 30th of October from 7pm in Garden Place. Nothing like letting the zombie hordes free.

Escapist are running a Halloween Costume Competition 30-31 October! Call in store to see the team at 36 Bryce Street to take a photo with their Escapist sign to go into their people’s choice and random prize draw!

Saturday 31st October’s events:

Specifically for the kids Mr Twist supported by Love the Centre is hosting a Trick or Treat Trail from 2pm to 3pm, for kids 12 and under with an adult in tow. There is candy at each stop, stilt walkers plus prizes for the best costume, and Halloween inflatables that stick around until 8pm. Swing by the central library in Garden Place between 20th & 30th October and grab your map. Finishing the trail earns you a free mini cone or pretzel. That is a pretty sweet deal!

For the adults there is the Silent Disco at the Museum running from 8pm to 11.30pm with tickets from $50. Prefer a full-blown party? Fear Factory is putting on Hamilton’s biggest Halloween party at The Factory, and the Thriller Halloween Party at The Bank Bar promises a night inspired by the King of Pop himself, with doors opening at 10pm, an 18 plus door policy, and tickets from just $10.

The Mercury Room is leaning into the season too, opening at 2pm and staying late with “ghoulish cocktails”, scary servers and food that will supposedly make your blood curdle, with a complimentary beverage up for grabs for the best dressed.

And for those who like a little theatre with their terror, Miss Cadaver returns to The Meteor on Hallow’s Eve itself. “The legend returns to finish what it started,” with a simple instruction: enter if you dare.

So, there you have it. Whether you are collecting treats with the kids, sipping something spooky, or screaming along to Thriller, the central city is the place to be this Halloween. Come early, dress up, and make a night of it in the heart of Hamilton.
